AGHS 2026 Championship Recap

The American Go Society’s Championship Finals concluded on Sunday, February 22nd. The tournament took place on KGS, a free online platform provided by the American Go Foundation, in the AGHS tournament room. The championship series featured a livestream of the final round of the tournament, which was viewed by over 300 people. The players logged in from all around North America, ranging from Southern California all the way to the East Coast. The participants featured many highly regarded players from throughout the Go community.

This year’s Championship Finals followed a single-elimination format. From the quarter-finals, four contestants of the original eight emerged victorious, moving on to the semifinals. Those winners faced off in two separate rounds, and competed for the title of champion. All the place winners were given trophies. The third and fourth place winners, Daniel Zhou and Richard Duan, also received $50. The second place winner, Chase Lin, received $75. Finally, the first place winner, Evan Tan, received $100.
