AGHS Lights the New Year with the Annual Pair Go Tournament

This past Sunday, February 11, 24 pairs of Go players gathered online on the KGS Go Server for AGHS’s annual Pair Go Tournament.

With players from 6D to 25K grouped in 6 divisions, the tournament had a huge turnout, contributing to the fun of the event. The winning pairs were Edward Zhang 6D and Liaoran Cao 6D, Ge Wang 3D and Ryan Huang 1D, Ragnarr 4K and Jamie Tang 2K, Echo Yao 5K and Matt Xiong 6K, Bradley Johnston 8K and Thomas Pope 11K, and Yunhoo Oh 25K and Wooje Son 25K.

The tournament was run by the AGHS Tournament Director team, consisting of Jake Kim, Grace Chen, Steve Zhang, Tony Yang, and Kevin Yang. The TD team was quick to provide last-minute substitutes for players who dropped out to watch the Super Bowl.

Overall, “the tournament was fun,” said participant Albert Tang 3D. “Both me and my partner enjoyed it. It should be done every year.”
