Young Lions Tournament Recap

The weekend before last, the American Go Honor Society (AGHS) held the final round of its annual Young Lions Tournament! Six years ago, AGHS spearheaded its first Young Lions Tournament, aimed toward North American players under the age of eighteen. This year, there were over eighty young participants, who were split into ten divisions. Players participated in four rounds.

On Sunday, November 16, young players across North America signed onto KGS to play their first game in the tournament. What followed were hours of intense gameplay by many young players.

Kevin Yang went undefeated for all four rounds in the Open Division, defeating Lilya Wang, Igasho Yin, Jerry Zhang, and Al Tang. Liam Liu lost his first round game to Jerry Zhang but came back with two victories in rounds 2 and 3. Toby Chen lost two rounds and defeated Lilya Wang and Jerry Zhang. Kevin Yang, Liam Liu, and Toby Chen won first, second, and third place, respectively, in the Open Division.

The following were first place winners in Divisions A to I: Jason Liu, Angel Zhou, Zixuan Liang, Vincent Hu, Inha Lee, Erin Chong, Eelis Yu, Jerry Xu, and Yuji Ichihashi. Liam Liu and Toby Chen won second and third place, respectively, in the Open Division, behind Kevin Yang.

Congratulations to all players who participated in the 2025 AGHS Young Lions Tournament!
